Belvedere Women and Girls

Activities for Women and Girls at Belvedere

There are several organized groups and leagues for women at Belvedere, as well as women-only or girls-only lessons and activities:

Belvedere Women’s Branch

The Belvedere Women’s Branch is made up of an executive and representatives from each organized women’s group or league.

9 Hole Group

The 9 Hole Ladies play Tuesday mornings on the front 9 and Thursday mornings on the back 9. There are several fun tournaments throughout the season. Sign up on the bulletin board outside the women’s locker room in the basement is required and a draw will be announced in the Guardian the day before. All women members, and Player’s Package holders, are welcomed to participate. Please check in with the group’s contact person for further details. Contact: Betty Howlett, 894-3445, bettyh@pei.sympatico.ca.

18 Hole Group

The 18 Hole Ladies play on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. There are several fun tournaments throughout the season. Sign up on the bulletin board outside the women’s locker room in the basement is required and a draw will be announced n the Guardian the day before. All women members, and Player’s Package holders, are welcomed to participate. When the course is unavailable, the group travels together to other on-Island courses. Business ladies Group

Business ladies meet regularly on Monday and Thursday evenings at 5:00 pm. Even though we are small in numbers, our dedication from those who participate is admirable. A few times some of us have ventured on and played 18 holes if time permits. We do not have, nor do we wish to have any sponsors as we as a group feel it is an unnecessary and time consuming activity keeping track of scorecards, scores, competitions, paperwork etc. We'd rather be just golfing and enjoying each others company. We've been trying unsuccessfully to have a dinner as a group but the rain keeps getting in the way of 'nine and dine' - we'll keep trying. Looking forward to the day when some of our 'Social League' participants can join our group as members for evening golf.

Cheers, Donna

Thursday Night Women’s Social League

Starting Thursday, May 21, members and non-members can participate in 9 hole play, beginning immediately after the Business Women’s tee offs at 5:00. There is no fee for members or Player’s Package holders, and the fee for non-members is $25 plus tax per week or $299 plus tax from May 21 to September 10. Sign up is required in the Pro Shop for your preference of tee time groupings (those in Group 1 will tee off in groups of 4 between 5:00-5:30; Group 2 between 5:30-6:00; Group 3 between 6:00-6:30). Throughout the season, we will have organized socials with a fun, best-ball type tournament towards the end of the season. Beginners are welcomed. Contact: Steve Dowling, 565-5542, admin@belvdeergolf.com.

Girls Club

The CN Future Links Girls’ Club is a developmental golf program essentially designed for girls 8-18 years of age. As members, young girls will develop the skills, attitudes and positive images of themselves as athletes on the golf course, encouraging both self-esteem and a life-long love of the game. The Girls’ Club was developed to address the huge discrepancy between the numbers of young girls playing golf compared to the number of young boys. It aims not merely to attract girls to the game but also to help retain them longer.

The cost of the program is $55 per session. 2009 sessions include:

Session 1:
June 29-30, 10:00 - 11:00
July 6-7, 10:00 - 11:00
July 13-14, 10:00 - 11:00

Session 2:
July 27-28, 10:00 - 11:00
August 3-4, 10:00 - 11:00
August 10-11, 10:00 - 11:00
